Department of Transportation throws carnival for Montana town

FRENCHTOWN –

The Montana Department of Transportation held an unusual Construction Carnival to thank the Frenchtown community for its patience with six months of construction work.

After more than six months of road construction in Frenchtown, MDT wanted to thank the community for being patient, and organized the free family event at Frenchtown High School on Monday evening.

Pfeifer said MDT wanted to organize the carnival to not only have some fun, but also to teach.

“We’re putting together this construction carnival to help educate the public and some kids on the construction work we’ve done and how it works,” Pfeifer said.

The carnival had educational games about different soils and the weight of asphalt used in the Frontage Road project. A costume contest for the best-dressed construction worker was among the carnival fun. MDT officials said they bought over $100 worth of candy to give out.
