Park County clerk Colleen Renner and deputy clerk Hans Odde are the chief gatekeepers when it comes to the security of Park County elections.
“We’re the boots on the ground,” Odde said. “We’re the ones that deal with the elections on a macro basis.”
Odde recently attended a conference coordinated by the Center for Internet Security in Denver to learn how his department can better protect ballots. He said he returned to Cody with many resources and contacts to ensure Park County has a fair and secure election in 2020.
“How we can secure our elections better, not only nationwide but statewide and locally,” Odde said. “It was an amazing conference.”
Some believe the 2016 elections were scarred with foreign influence from hackers abroad. Odde said this presence is still very much alive for 2020.
