Wyoming sheriff’s deputies lasso deer stuck in icy pond

PINEDALE, Wyo. — A Sublette County Sheriff’s deputy was driving through Pinedale on his way to training when he saw an unusual call to action.

A deer had become stuck in a pond that was partially iced over. Deputy Justin Hays radioed to dispatch and was soon joined by Deputy Peterson, who activated his body camera to capture the rescue.

According a post from the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office, several of their deputies carry ranch ropes in patrol vehicles to help get livestock off of roadways.

Luckily, Hays is one of those deputies. He put his roping skills to good use by lassoing the deer and pulling it safety.
