South Dakota businesses get extra week, more flexibility to apply for state aid

Businesses in South Dakota now have an extra week to get aid from the state government program established to help make up for losses incurred due to COVID-19.

While tens of thousands of entrepreneurs, small businesses and nonprofits took advantage of federal aid this spring when President Donald Trump signed the CARES Act into law, participation in the program established by Gov. Kristi Noem and the state Legislature has been a slower build, said Rep. Jean Hunhoff, R-Yankton.
