KALISPELL –Kalispell Regional Healthcare officials confirmed on Sunday that over 50 people were injured and transported in Saturday’s deck collapse at Glacier Camp, south of Lakeside.
36 of these patients were treated in the Flathead area, with 9 at North Valley Hospital and 27 at Kalispell Regional medical Center.
Significant numbers of orthopedic and neurological injuries required immediate surgery, including both open and closed long bone and ankle fractures. Two people remain in critical condition, according to a Kalispell Regional Healthcare statement.
The A.L.E.R.T. air ambulance team transported two patients from the scene of the collapse, while one flight medic remained on scene to assist with ground transportation of other patients.
“Our medical teams did a tremendous job, performing like a well-oiled machine,” said Pat Rankin, MD, KRH Chief Physician Executive. “Countless staff responded, even those who were not on call.”
