Officials ID man killed in fiery Eastern Montana crash west of Forsyth

The Rosebud County Coroner’s office has identified the victim of a fatal Sunday morning crash in Rosebud County as Forsyth resident Landen Moreland.

Moreland, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck on Reservation Creek Road, west of Forsyth and between Interstate 94 and Old Highway 10, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. The crash was reported at 3:39 a.m.

He was alone in the SUV, according to MHP, and no other vehicles were involved.

According to the crash narrative provided by MHP, Moreland is believed to have crashed the vehicle at around 2:30 a.m. after driving off the roadway when he encountered a right-hand curve.

The vehicle then caught fire and was fully engulfed in flames officers arrived on scene, the narrative states.
