Billings, MONT-The Yellowstone Area Chamber of Commerce released their comprehensive Public Policy Guide that will direct lobbying efforts at the Legislature. The group recently hired a lobbyist, EJ Redding, to advocate on behalf of area business in Helena. According to Redding, “I believe in the Chambers mission and look forward to fighting alongside businesses for these common-sense solutions.”
The Business Growth and Economic Prosperity Guide includes sections on Tax policy, Public Safety, Reinvigorating the Business Climate, and Economic Freedom and Growth. The guide was created with the input of dozens of area business owners and community leaders to provide a simple framework for lawmakers on how to advance the interests of businesses.
According to Sam Loveridge, the groups Executive Director, “Since forming this group, I’ve spoken with dozens of business owners about what is affecting their businesses. Using this input, we’ve been able to create a time-tested and common-sense framework to reinvigorate the business climate.”
Following the Legislative Session, the Yellowstone Area Chamber will release a scorecard that will grade all 100 Representatives and 50 Senators. This scorecard will represent lawmakers support for business in the area. “As an organization that represents the interests of businesses we believe it’s vitally important for business owners, entrepreneurs, employees, and the public to know if their interests are being advanced by their elected officials.” Loveridge goes on to say, “We’re a non-partisan organization and fighting for a better business climate should be as non-divisive as it gets in Helena.”
The Yellowstone Area Chamber is growing quickly due to the unprecedented support its mission is receiving from the business community. Businesses looking to become a member can visit YellowstoneChamber.org or contact Sam Loveridge at 406-670-8522.
