CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER DIES IN WYOMING PRISON

A Laramie native who was serving consecutive prison terms for taking indecent liberties with a child and drug possession has died, the Wyoming Department of Corrections announced Tuesday.

Department spokesman Mark Horan said Lorenzo S. Montez, 53, died of a long-term illness Tuesday at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington.

An autopsy has been ordered in accordance with departmental policy.

Montez was sentenced to prison in 2007 by then-District Judge Jeffrey A. Donnell of Albany County. Montez received three consecutive sentences: eight to 10 years on each of two counts of immodest, immoral or indecent liberties with a child and two to five years for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
