Sergeant Travis Atkins VA Center opens in Bozeman, honoring the legacy of a Montana veteran who gave the ultimate sacrifice

It’s been over 10 years since a staff Sergeant Travis Atkins died at the age of 31 in combat.

In May 2019, he was honored at the White House with the Medal of Freedom by President Donald Trump for his sacrifice.

His son accepted the award on his behalf.

Atkins gave his life protecting his fellow troops, he threw himself on top of a suicide bomber.
