Letter to the editor: Greater Yellowstone conservation deserves our support

Every summer, I volunteer my time to lead group hikes around Bozeman. I also volunteer at trailheads, helping educate users about trail etiquette and ways to reduce their outdoor impact so we can all enjoy nature sustainably.

These are labors of love. I do them because I love where I live and believe in sharing and helping others learn to love and respect our public lands.

The fact is that Montana is growing fast. Every year new developments pop up and our beloved trailheads get more crowded. This means that we must be thoughtful and decisive about how we plan for the future, so we ensure that everyone, now and down the line, can enjoy our public lands.

That’s exactly what the Greater Yellowstone Conservation and Recreation Act will do. It will permanently protect 250,000 acres of public land in the Madison and Gallatin ranges. It was made here, developed by locals working
