Montana State University’s Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering is set to host its annual Shadow Day events on October 16 and 17, inviting high school students interested in engineering, computer science, and Army and Air Force ROTC programs to participate.
The first day, October 16, will focus on ROTC programs, featuring Army ROTC activities from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Air Force ROTC events from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. High school students will have the opportunity to pair with a Bobcat student cadet to explore the various opportunities offered through ROTC. Students can register for the Army and Air Force ROTC Shadow Day at montana.edu/airforce/shadow-day-rsvp.
On October 17, students interested in engineering and computer science can engage in activities that simulate the college experience. Participants will be matched with a current engineering or computer science student, taking part in shadowing, interactive activities, and immersive experiences led by college faculty. Registration is available through the engineering and computer science Shadow Day signup pages.
Jennifer Clark, assistant dean for student success and retention in the engineering college, emphasized the importance of Shadow Day for rural high school students considering careers in these fields.
“This event helps demystify what engineering and computer science really entail,” Clark stated. “It provides valuable resources for students eager to explore exciting futures, showcasing the vast opportunities available in these areas.”
