East Helena woman dies after being struck by vehicle, MHP says

A 41-year-old East Helena woman walking along York Road near Helena died early Saturday after being struck by a vehicle, the Montana Highway Patrol said.

The pedestrian had just gotten out of a vehicle about 1 a.m. and was walking westbound on York Road and just passing Olsen Road when she was hit by a vehicle driven by a 40-year-old Helena woman heading westbound on York Road, the MHP said.

The Dodge Journey struck her with its front bumper, her head hit the windshield and she was thrown 50-100 feet, officials said. She was taken to St. Peter’s Regional Medical Center.

The MHP report said drugs were suspected but did not specify which party or both.
