DHS Drops Funny Video About Decision That You No Longer Have to Take Shoes Off in Airport Security

As we reported, after almost 20 years of making people take off their shoes at the airport, the Department of Homeland Security is finally ending this rule.

This rule came in 2006 after the “Shoe Bomber” Richard Reid, who tried to hide and then detonate explosives hidden in his shoes on a flight from Paris to Miami in December 2001.

This was a great decision that should have come long ago to a largely pointless rule.

The DHS released a video to commemorate the end of the rule, and it’s pretty funny, with the “Saturday Night Fever” theme and some bling shoes. It said, “Welcome to the Golden Age of Travel!”
