Speaking from a White House cabinet meeting, Trump and Hegseth reflected on the military strikes that the president authorized on several Iranian nuclear facilities, with the secretary of defense saying it “reestablished deterrents” around the world.

“Truly a historic mission,” Hegseth explained. “And it demonstrated the skill and courage of the United States military. From those B-2 pilots to the families whom we got a chance to meet. To the fighter pilots. To the refuelers, to the maintainers, to the air defenders who defended the base. What was demonstrated on the world stage was American military might and capability.”
