Madness: To fight ICE, City Council aims to let street vendors run wild

So obsessed is the City Council with protecting all illegal migrants from ICE enforcement, it just voted to decriminalize illegal street vending lest any border-jumpers get arrested for it and so face an elevated risk of deportation.

Unless the mayor vetoes the bill and somehow gets council members to uphold him, violating the city’s vending laws will no longer bring misdemeanor charges (and the possibility of three months in jail) as of Dec. 31.

Vending with no license or permit will only be a non-criminal violation — just another ticket.

“Criminalizing street vendors for simplifying trying to survive wastes City resources and fails to improve public safety,” whined a City Council flack.

So get set for an explosion of sleazy characters trying to sell cheap knockoffs, stolen goods and other garbage on blocks with heavy foot traffic, especially tourists and other likely suckers.
