Utah motorcyclist killed in highway crash near Dillon

Interstate 15 near Dillon was the scene of a July 17 accident that left an 82-year-old man from Draper, Utah dead.

The accident occurred at 5:15 p.m. at mile marker 62, involving a Chevy Silverado pickup truck and a BMW K1200RS motorcycle.

According to a Montana Highway Patrol report, a 26-year-old man from Eureka, traveling southbound on I-15, was driving the truck with an attached trailer. A motorcyclist was traveling in front of the truck and another motorcycle was behind the truck. The Silverado driver tried to pass the motorcyclist but did not see the other motorcycle coming up in the left lane. The trailer collided with the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to run off the roadway southbound in the median.

The Utah man was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries. The roads were reportedly dry and clear. Alcohol and drugs are suspected factors in the crash.
