MISSOULA, Mont. — In a press call with reporters exactly one week before Gov.-elect Greg Gianforte takes office, he again called COVID-19 the most pressing issue Montana faces Jan. 4, but didn’t make any big announcements about how his approach will look. He said he will announce new guidance for Montana after he’s sworn in, but mentioned personal responsibility more than once on the call.
“Freedom with no responsibility is not an outcome that we want,” Gianforte said. “I’ll try and do my best to not politicize this. We have a legitimate and serious health crisis. The signs are good—new infections are going down, we have a vaccine, but we’re not out of the woods yet.”
