CLEVELAND — Mike Gibbons, a Cleveland investment banker running for the Republican nomination in Ohio’s 2022 U.S. Senate race, is planning to spend $10 million on television and radio advertising over the next nine months.
The large figure of reserved airtime stands out as millions of dollars begins pouring in to the competitive GOP primary to succeed retiring Ohio Sen. Rob Portman.
Gibbons, who ran unsuccessfully for Senate in 2018, has already committed to spend $5 million of his own fortune on this race. His campaign reported raising $1 million in the second fundraising quarter of this year, on top of his self-funding.
