South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has expressed strong support for President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as the next U.S. Attorney General.
“I served with, and was impressed by, Pam as Florida’s Attorney General,” Jackley said in a statement. “She is an experienced prosecutor who will strengthen the relationship between federal, state, and local prosecutors, and bring respect and integrity to the Department of Justice.”
Bondi, who served as Florida’s Attorney General from 2011 to 2019, was widely recognized for her work in law enforcement and legal advocacy during her tenure. She was known for her leadership in various high-profile cases, and her experience is seen as an asset for the Justice Department.
In 2017, Bondi delivered the keynote address at the South Dakota Law Enforcement Charitable Game Feed in Sioux Falls, an event where she shared her insights into law enforcement and legal matters. Her visit was well-received by local law enforcement professionals.
Jackley, who also served as U.S. Attorney for the District of South Dakota, is one of several state Attorneys General advising the Trump transition team on legal and justice-related issues. His support for Bondi’s nomination underscores her reputation as a respected leader in the legal community.
Bondi’s nomination is now awaiting confirmation by the U.S. Senate. If confirmed, she would succeed current Attorney General Merrick Garland and take the helm of the Department of Justice.
