Semi-trailer hauling pigs crashes near Wolf Creek

A semi-truck trailer hauling over 1,500 piglets crashed Monday morning near Wolf Creek on Interstate 15 near mile marker 226 after hitting a center median due to a broken tie rod.

The truck crashed in the southbound lanes and Montana Department of Transportation officials said the left passing lanes were closed both northbound and southbound.

Traffic was flowing, officials said, after hearing of the incident around 7:50 a.m.

About 1,673 piglets were being transported to Iowa and it was unknown how many died in the crash.

The Dixon driver suffered minor injuries and no enforcement action was taken, officials said.
