Randi Weingarten’s July 4th Tweet Had People Laughing – but for All the Wrong Reasons

Many people were acknowledging Independence Day on Friday. 

But a post by American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten that had many people talking. It wasn’t so much about what she was saying to acknowledge the holiday, but the way that she expressed it that caught people’s eyes. For the head of a teachers union, it had some pretty glaring errors.

Weingarten described the sun “peaking” from behind the flag. Of course, the proper word is “peeking.” Then too, she didn’t even seem to know how to spell “4rth” on the 4th of July. How embarrassing is that? She also spelled “thru” with a common internet abbreviation. Technically, it should be “through,” although I would probably give her a pass on that one. There also was
