The 78th annual reunion and memorial service of the joint Canadian/American First Special Service Force of World War II will be Aug. 13-16 in Helena.
The Aug. 15 memorial service, 10 a.m. to noon in Memorial Park at 1203 N. Last Chance Gulch in Helena, is open to the public and includes color guard, benediction, wreath laying and reading of the names of First Special Service Force veterans who died over the previous year.
The reunion will be at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Helena Colonial, 2301 Colonial Drive.
The First Special Service Force (aka “Black Devils”) is the precursor of the Special Forces of the U.S. and Canada.
