Corey Mock Appointed to NASCIO Executive Committee

Corey Mock, Chief Information Officer for the State of North Dakota, has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO). Mock will serve as an Executive Committee Director, completing the unexpired term of Laura Clark, former CIO for the State of Michigan. The term runs through 2026, after which Mock will be eligible to seek a full two-year term later this fall.

NASCIO is the nation’s premier professional association representing state chief information officers and senior public-sector IT leaders. The organization is widely recognized for its leadership in research, policy guidance, and collaboration as states address modernization, cybersecurity, workforce development, and digital service delivery challenges.

The NASCIO Executive Committee provides strategic leadership and oversight for the association, helping shape policy positions, guide research priorities, and support member services for state and territorial IT organizations nationwide.

“I’m honored to join the NASCIO Executive Committee and grateful for the trust of my peers,” Mock said. “Having spent much of my career on the legislative side of the table before stepping into the CIO role, I bring a perspective shaped by both policymaking and implementation. I’ve seen firsthand the importance of clear governance, sustainable funding, and strong partnerships between legislators, executive leaders, and technology teams. NASCIO plays a critical role in advancing that shared understanding across states.”

Before his appointment as North Dakota’s CIO in 2024, Mock served for 16 years in the North Dakota House of Representatives, where he held leadership roles and served on technology-focused legislative committees. In his current role, he leads North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT), which provides enterprise IT services to executive branch agencies, including cybersecurity, networks, applications, data services, and end-user support.

Mock’s work at NDIT emphasizes cross-agency collaboration, public trust, and a “humans helping humans” approach to delivering effective and secure technology solutions.

“NASCIO has a long-standing and well-earned reputation for supporting public-sector IT leaders with practical research, peer connection, and principled advocacy,” Mock said. “I’m excited to contribute to that work and to learn from colleagues across the country who are tackling many of the same challenges—often under very different conditions.”

NDIT plays a central role in cybersecurity, data governance, and digital transformation efforts across North Dakota, supporting state agencies as they modernize systems and services for the public.
