Helena – The Montana Democrat Party has brought in a Washington state lawyer with deep ties to national Democrat organizations to lead its lawsuit to remove the Green Party from the Ballot.
Kevin Hamilton, of Seattle, Washington with the firm Perkins Coie was admitted to represent the Montana Democrat Party less than an hour before a hearing in the case on Tuesday. In Montana, lawyers that are not licensed here must get permission from the court before they can practice. Judge Kathy Seely signed the order allowing Mr. Hamilton to participate in the case despite objections from the Secretary of State’s office.
Mr. Hamilton’s biography on the firm’s website boasts that he has represented more than a dozen Democrat candidates and elected officials in 10 states, including disgraced former Minnesota Senator Al Franken. Franken resigned from the United States Senator in January amidst allegations of sexual misconduct from multiple women.
Perkins Coie also represented Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential race and is now under fire from members of Congress for its role in concealing the Clinton campaign’s payments to the research firm Fusion GPS for the so-called “Trump Dossier”.
Helena District Court Judge Kathy Seeley has yet to rule on the Democrats request for an injunction that would prevent the Green Party from appearing on the ballot.
