Washington – President-Elect Donald J. Trump has tapped pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson to head the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Carson previously ran for the Republican presidential nomination before dropping out of the running and endorsing Trump’s presidential bid.
Carson was an early favorite for Department of Health and Human Services with his professional background. Last week, Carson said, “Having me as a federal bureaucrat would be like a fish out of water.”
Carson changed his tune on Wednesday, posting on Facebook that he felt “that I can make a significant contribution particularly to making our inner cities great for everyone.”
Donald Trump has pledged to bring jobs and law and order back to America’s inner cities. With Chicago’s homicide count at more than 700 just this year and inner city dropout rates skyrocketing a tough task faces Dr. Carson.
