JCPenney announced Friday that the retailer is planning to close its location at Southgate Mall. The department store is expected to close in April 2020.
In a press release sent Friday afternoon, Washington Prime Group, the owner of Southgate Mall said prior to the JCPenney closing announcement they executed an agreement to gain control of the JCPenney site for future redevelopment.
Washington Prime Group plans to make an announcement in the near future regarding these redevelopment efforts, which are expected to kick off in 2020.
