Missoula homeless camp continues to grow as officials work toward solutions

A homeless camp along Missoula’s North Reserve Street continues to grow amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In the winter, officials estimate 15 to 20 people were living along the banks of the Clark Fork. That number grows every summer, but due to the pandemic they now estimate 60 to 80 people are living there.

“We are seeing a significant increase in unsheltered homelessness, and so you are seeing much more visible people experiencing homelessness at the Reserve Street camp and other places in our community,” Poverello Center executive director Amy Allison Thompson said.
