Montana SBDC Honors Quincy Walter of Wolf Point as 2024 State Star

In a distinguished accolade, Quincy Walter of Wolf Point has been named the 2024 Montana “State Star” by the Montana Department of Commerce and the Montana Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network. This national honor recognizes outstanding contributions and performance among SBDC directors across the country.

Walter, serving as SBDC Regional Director hosted by the Great Northern Development Corporation, will be celebrated at the national America’s SBDC conference in Atlanta this September. Her recognition comes for exemplary service, significant contributions to the SBDC program, and a steadfast commitment to supporting small businesses.

Chad Moore, SBDC State Director, commended Walter, stating, “Quincy’s experience and perspective bring great value to her clients. She’s an asset to the entrepreneurs and small business owners in Northeast Montana, and we’re thrilled to have her on our team.”

Since joining the SBDC in 2021, Walter has provided confidential consulting and training to entrepreneurs and small business owners across the seven-county Wolf Point region. Her innovative approaches have facilitated record loan closings and numerous training sessions covering vital business topics.

Walter’s collaborative efforts have extended beyond her region, enhancing communication and efficiency among SBDC centers statewide. Her involvement in local initiatives, such as the “Minnow Tank” competition, has injected vital funding into start-ups and small businesses, further fostering economic growth.

In 2023 alone, Walter counseled 103 clients, supported over 313 jobs, and assisted in securing more than $6 million in funding for her clients.

“I’m honored to receive the Montana State Star Award from the SBDC network,” said Quincy Walter. “To find a career where I get to continually help individuals start or grow their small businesses in northeastern Montana is a dream come true for me. This recognition reflects not only my dedication but also the collective efforts of our incredible team at Great Northern Development Corporation to make success possible for all small businesses in our region.”

The SBDC program, overseen by ten regional offices statewide and led by the Montana Department of Commerce, is funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. It operates in partnership with local host organizations to provide crucial support to small businesses across Montana.
