Governor Greg Gianforte announced the appointment of State Representative Marta Bertoglio as the new Director of the Montana Department of Commerce, signaling a continued focus on economic growth and job creation in the state.
“Marta has been a strong partner in the Legislature and is a driven leader, dedicated to making Montana the best place to do business,” Governor Gianforte said in a statement. “With Marta at the helm of the Department of Commerce, I am confident in her ability to recruit businesses that create good-paying jobs, helping more Montanans achieve the American dream. I appreciate her willingness to serve in this new capacity as part of our cabinet.”
Bertoglio, a Republican who has represented House District 75 since her election in 2020, brings a diverse background to the role. A U.S. Air Force veteran and graduate of the Air Force Academy, she has operated a boutique real estate firm based in Helena since 2016, with satellite offices across Montana. Her experience as a small business owner and legislator has centered on fostering economic development and community resilience.
“Having grown up in a small Montana town, I know how important business is to helping build community,” Bertoglio said. “By fostering resilient communities and making sure Montana is the best place to do business, we can create a bright future for our state. I’m grateful to Governor Gianforte for this opportunity to serve the people of Montana as the director of the Department of Commerce.”
A native of Deer Lodge, Bertoglio served in the Air Force alongside her husband, Joe, before returning to Montana in 2007. In addition to her legislative work, she has served as a trustee on the Montana City School Board. Bertoglio and her husband live in Clancy with their two children.
