Grad student who went missing in Wisconsin found dead in Mississippi River

A graduate student who went missing in Wisconsin last weekend was found dead in the Mississippi River near Brownsville, Minnesota, Wednesday.

People reported Eliotte Heinz, 22, a student at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin, missing after she failed to return home from a night out on the town. The La Crosse Police Department said she was last seen walking southbound on the city’s Front Street South at around 3:15 a.m. Sunday.

She had spent time at Bronco’s Bar in La Crosse prior to her disappearance, according to a missing person’s poster shared online by Viterbo University.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office in Minnesota said that around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, a fisherman in Brownsville found her body south of a local marina. Brownsville is 13 miles south of La Crosse.
