Governor Greg Gianforte joined U.S. Senators Steve Daines and Tim Sheehy to officially cut the ribbon on Amazon’s new 50,000-square-foot delivery station in Belgrade. The state-of-the-art facility is part of Amazon’s continued expansion in Montana, representing a $27 million investment and creating dozens of jobs in Gallatin County.
“Montana is open for business, and Amazon’s continued investment in our state is proof of that,” Gov. Gianforte said during the ceremony. “This facility will create more opportunities for Montanans, support small businesses, and strengthen local economies in the Gallatin Valley and beyond. I’m proud to welcome Amazon’s growth in Montana and look forward to future partnerships that create opportunities for our people.”
The new Belgrade delivery station is Amazon’s third such facility in Montana and will handle the critical “last-mile” of the delivery process. It will receive packages from larger regional fulfillment centers and distribute them to customers within a 50-mile radius. Amazon’s investment also adds to the company’s growing presence in Montana, which now includes operations in Missoula and Billings.
Since 2010, Amazon has invested over $110 million in Montana and created more than 500 full- and part-time jobs across the state. Additionally, Amazon supports over 1,000 independent sellers in Montana, the majority of whom are small and medium-sized businesses that sell their products through Amazon’s platform.
Senator Daines reflected on Amazon’s journey, noting, “Nearly 30 years ago, Amazon started as an online bookseller. To see them now, as the ‘everything store,’ with a fulfillment center right here in Belgrade and delivering 11,000 packages a day is truly remarkable. This is a testament to the growth of Montana’s economy and our ability to support large-scale operations.”
Senator Sheehy, who also expressed pride in Montana’s growing business environment, added, “As someone who has started and grown Montana businesses, it’s exciting to see companies like Amazon continue investing in our state. This investment will create prosperity for Montana families and businesses, connecting them to global markets and sending a clear message that Montana is open for business.”
Amazon’s Site Leader, Tom Garcia, emphasized the company’s commitment to both fast delivery and community investment. “This facility isn’t just about faster delivery; it’s about investing in the community and empowering our employees,” Garcia said. “We’re creating opportunities for professional development right here in Montana, and we’re committed to fostering a culture of growth and respect.”
Governor Gianforte concluded by highlighting the broader economic momentum in Montana, noting, “With more Montanans working than ever before and a record number of new businesses created last year, we will continue to build on this success through our pro-jobs, pro-business agenda.”
Earlier this year, Governor Gianforte announced that nearly 64,000 new businesses were created in Montana in 2024, marking a record high. Montana was also recently named the best state for business startups.
The new Amazon facility in Belgrade joins other significant expansions in Montana, including operations from VACOM in Lewistown, Brixtel Defense in Glendive, Coca-Cola High Country in Billings, and Aurora in Bozeman, further solidifying the state’s growing role in attracting major employers.
